ROCKWALL —
Lisa Chappel, the Herald-Banner's publisher, shares this recipe for brown sugar Christmas cookies.
2 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 well beaten eggs
½ tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
Sift dry ingredients.
Cream brown sugar and shortening; add eggs and vanilla.
Add both mixtures together.
Roll out thin and use Christmas cookie cutters to cut out your cookie shapes.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes, or until a light brown.
Icing:
3 T. milk
Drops of food coloring
1 lb. powdered sugar
