Dozens of arrests for outstanding warrants reported

They can’t say they weren’t warned.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department Wednesday started making good on their promise to round up those people who still had outstanding warrants through the City of Greenville Municipal Court.

Of 37 total arrests reported in Greenville Wednesday, 35 were for outstanding warrants.

One person was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and one for driving while intoxicated. Officers were dispatched to 203 calls and filed 45 reports.

Deputies with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office filed reports of tampering with evidence and forgery, from the intersection of County Road 3501 and Highway 34 at 12:43 a.m. Tuesday.

A theft of four firearms was reported to have occurred at a residence on County Road 3517 between noon and 4 p.m. Tuesday.

An assault/family violence was reported to have occurred at a residence on Hillside Drive near Lone Oak between 10:30 p.m. Monday and 5:33 a.m. Tuesday.

Courts

District Court

— Sonia Suzanne Mata, 22, Sulphur Springs, entered pleas of guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to three years in prison and one year in a state jail.

Court-at-Law No. 2

— Jessie William Glidden entered a plea of guilty to a charge of DWI and was placed on 12 months of probation with a $500 fine.

— Jerry Ray Williams entered a plea of guilty to a charge of DWI and was placed on 16 months of probation with a $1,000 fine.

— Kevin Orlando Anderson had probation on a charge of DWI/open alcohol container revoked and was sentenced to 60 days in jail.
