Clifford Roy Wherley age 85, of Greenville died on Feb. 8, 2013 at Smith Nursing Home and Rehab in Wolfe City.
A memorial service will be at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas on Thursday at 10:45 a.m. with military honors.
A reception for family and friends will follow at 2 p.m. at VFW Post 7426 on Highway 380 in Farmersville.
Mr. Wherley was born in Astoria, Ill., on May 28, 1927.
Clifford was a proud World War II veteran, always seen wearing his WW II veteran’s hat. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps and the United States Navy.
He joined the Army at the age of 14 and was given an honorable discharge after the Army found out he was underage.
He was only 14 when he enlisted and 16 when he was discharged. He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served for two years.
Services are under the direction of R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City.
