GREENVILLE —
James Robert Makin Sr. was born Oct. 28, 1925, in Camden, N.J., to Charles W. Makin and Geraldine Hicks and passed away Dec. 4, 2012, in Greenville.
James never met a stranger and had a good sense of humor; he loved to dance, bowl, and deep sea fish. James was a fireman for 40 years and loved it.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elmer Makin; and sisters Shirley Taylor and Doris Stewart.
James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gwendolyn Pierce Makin; sons James Robert Makin Jr. and wife Anita Robin, Jay Richard Makin, and John Roland Makin; and sisters Anne McClain, Ruth Schaub, and Betty Adams.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lynch Funeral Home in Caddo Mills. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Caddo Mills.
A visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
