Marcia L. Trahan Volk was born June 1, 1938, in Worcester, Mass., and passed away June 18, 2012, in Rowlett. She passed with her children at her bedside.
Mom was the consummate teacher and believer in Jesus Christ. She wanted to serve and make the world a better place.
She served in the U.S. Navy, worked as a hospital ward clerk, a teacher’s aide for developmentally-challenged kids, church seamstress and greeter, Sunday school teacher, mentor, painter, crafter and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Levi (Lee) Volk, and her sister, Marjorie Schier.
She is survived by her children, Robert J. Dewald Jr. (Daisy), Diane T. Dewald, Mary B. Dewald, Michael T. Dewald, Laura A. Dewald Barker, Marcita L. Cox (BJ), Anita-Marie McBride and Becky Nelson; grandchildren Rachel, Lauren and Emma Cox and Makenzie and John McBride; siblings Joann Borhaug (Ken) and Dennis Drew Trahan; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mom donated her body to UT Southwestern Medical Center Willed Body Program as she continues her legacy of teaching and giving even after death.
