Charles Hurt

GREENVILLE — Charles Edward “Charlie” Hurt, loving and devoted husband and father, passed away Nov. 1, 2012, at Hunt Regional Medical Center. Services are at 2 p.m. today at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Sexton and Rev. Royce Litchfield officiating. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.

Born Oct. 1, 1931, in Ripley, Miss., Charles was the son of Hugh Monroe and Essie Dee (Martin) Hurt. He met Lara Frances Poston in Detroit, Mich.; and they were married April 4, 1953 in Ripley, Miss.

Mr. Hurt was retired from Walker Manufacturing Company as a tool and die maker and machinist. He was supervisor of the tool room and maintenance for 20 years.

 He was a faithful member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved his family, quail hunting, the outdoors, and watching his grandkids play ball.

His survivors include his wife, Fran, of Greenville; son Terry Hurt and wife Debbie of Austin; daughters Lisa Herndon and husband Ray and Lori Stuart and husband Bryan, all of Greenville; brother Harold Hurt of Ripley, Miss.; sister Patricia Giles of Albertville, Ala.; grandchildren Josh Hurt of Franklin, Tenn., Emily Hill and husband Drew of Fort Worth, Katie Hurt of Round Rock, Nikki Haynes and husband Tony of Lone Oak, Neely and Nathan Herndon both of Greenville, and Hunter, Hannah, and Hayden Stuart, all of Greenville; and great-grandchildren Kasen Haynes of Lone Oak, Teacon Hill of Fort Worth, and Keller Haynes (expected birth is Nov. 26, 2012)

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Hulon Hurt.

Memorials may be made to Highland Terrace Baptist Church

Pallbearers will be sons-in-law Bryan Stuart and Ray Herndon and grandsons Hunter Stuart, Hayden Stuart, Nathan Herndon and Josh Hurt. Grandsons-in-law Drew Hill and Tony Haynes will be honorary pallbearers.
