Martha King

GREENVILLE — Martha Majors King, 85, of Frisco (formerly of Greenville) passed away Oct. 16, 2012, at Centenniel Medical Center of Frisco. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel in Greenville with Dr. Kelly Carr and grandson-in-law Rev. Roger Sappington officiating. Interment will be held at the Masonic Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.  

Visitation is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Born May 9, 1927, in Greenville, Martha was the daughter of Rev. W.O. Majors and Ethel May (Adams) Majors. She was a member of the graduating class of 1944 at Greenville High School where she was  a majorette and band sweetheart. She attended college at Baylor University; and after college, she worked for Braniff Airlines for a short period. While living in Greenville, she worked as secretary to Judge Bostick and teller for First Greenville National Bank and Citizens National Bank. She served as a Pink Lady at the hospital in Mt. Pleasant for more than 20 years and was a member of the Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.  

In 1989, she married Bruce King, who preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers Lt. Truett Jay Majors, Oliver W. Majors and Conway Tyson Majors.  

Her survivors include her sons, John Edwards and wife Becky of Plano, Tyson Edwards and wife Linda of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Jay Edwards and wife Carol of Rockwall; grandchildren Kelly, Taylor, Robin, Nathan, Rachel, Jason, Lauren, Matt, Whitney, Thomas and Gracie; great-grandchildren Colin, Brady and Grayson; stepdaughter D’Auan McNeel of Tyler; and stepson Tommy King of Mt. Pleasant.  

Pallbearers will be Taylor Edwards, Nathan Edwards, Jason Edwards, Will Angeletta, Thomas King and Tommy King.
