Byrdie Pitts

CADDO MILLS — Byrdie Mae Pitts, 88, of Caddo Mills passed away Feb. 5, 2013, at Greenville Health & Rehab.

She was born in Hunt County on Feb. 25, 1924, to Clarence Elvin and Clemmie Woodall Hughes. Byrdie married Harold Pitts on Dec. 24, 1941, in Hunt County.

She was a loving mother and homemaker. Byrdie was a member of the Church of Christ in Caddo Mills.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn and husband Jerry Sumrow of Greenville; grandchildren David Sumrow and wife Terri of Palestine, Jeff Sumrow of Fate, Melissa Duncan and husband Josh of Caddo Mills, and Matthew Pitts and wife Ashley of Caddo Mills, great-grandchildren Trey, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Melanie, Morgan, and Adelaide; and sisters Betty McCasland of Caddo Mills and Wanda McCasland of Rockwall.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son Jerry Laverne Pitts; great-grandson Elijah Nelson Duncan; sister Odessa Burkett; brothers Milton Hughes, J.W. Hughes, and Clarence Hughes; and her parents.

Her service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Caddo Mills. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Caddo Mills.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lynch Funeral Home in Caddo Mills. Pallbearers will be Ronnie McCasland, Jimmy Hughes, David Sumrow, Jeff Sumrow, Josh Duncan, and Matthew Pitts.
