George Moore

WOLFE CITY — George Milton Moore, 79, of Wolfe City passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012, one day before his 80th birthday. 

He was born on June 15, 1932 in Omaha, Texas to Fronia Trumble Moore and Wesley J. Moore. He married Carolyn Ardel Westbrook in Temple on Dec. 23, 1961. 

He was a schoolteacher, rancher and former general manager of Texas Tag & Specialty Company. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wolfe City. 

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Carolyn Moore, three sons George Wesley Moore and wife Norma of Greenville, Joseph Stanley Moore and wife Susan of Broken Bow, Okla., and Thomas Bradley Moore and wife Jamie of Wolfe City. He leaves loving memories with four grandchildren: Sarah Moore, Erin Moore, Emma Moore, and Eli Moore; also with sister-in-law Emma Moore of Jacksonville, brother-in-law Joe Hogue of Overton and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Josephine Dedman and Marilyn Hogue; and three brothers, William Moore, Robert Moore and Wesley David Moore.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City.  A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church of Wolfe City with Dr. Ed Lee officiating.  Burial will be at 4 p.m. at the Omaha Cemetery in Omaha, Texas.

Pallbearers are Ken Haney, Jay Henderson, John O’Connor, Frankie Malone, Michael Mullins, Rob White, Ken Wright, Dylan Lee and Bill Smith.  Honorary pallbearers include Woody Woodruff, Reuben Milton, Sidney Wasson, Charles Ranly, Gene Monroe and Emerson Smith. 

Memorials may be sent to the Wolfe City First United Methodist Church.
