Mackie Shippy

GREENVILLE — Mackie Lou Shippy, 78, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, June 13, 2012. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, in the Lynch Funeral Service chapel in Greenville.

She was born in Waco on May 1, 1934, to Reubin E. and Lily Maude Lee Hagins. She was married to her loving, devoted husband of 54 years, Leon L. Shippy, on Feb. 10, 1957, in Ardmore, Okla.

Mackie was an avid gardener and canned extensively; she enjoyed reading books, working crossword puzzles and doing many forms of crafts, including needlework, sewing, quilting and ceramics.

She also successfully ran several part-time crafts businesses throughout her lifetime. Her favorite time of the year was the holidays when she turned her whole house into a Macy’s storefront. She was a big fan of Law & Order and Jeopardy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Marlene D. and  Richard Spielvogel of Cash, Lori L. and Shawn Cline of Cash and Arden L. Shippy of Plano; grandchildren Katherine Koebbe, Ross, Ryan and Trey Cline, and Brylee Shippy; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Carter, Charlie and Alice Cline; a sister, Sharlan Pruitt of Grandview; special friend Mary McShane and her loving dog, Pepper.

The family would prefer memorials be made to  the Lou & Jack Finney Cancer Center.
