Stephen Sandin

Stephen Scott Sandin, 43, of Irving (formerly of Greenville) passed away Sept. 22, 2012 at Baylor Medical Center in Irving.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Beasley, Rev. Mike Orand, and Ed Butler officiating. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Born July 16, 1969, in Midwest City, Okla., Stephen was the son of Dr. James Howard and Fran Caffey Sandin. He was a member of Hope Fellowship in Irving.

Steve graduated from Greenville Christian School in 1987, excelling in academics and athletics. He earned a B.S. degree from Texas A & M, College Station, in 1992 and a master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in St. Augustine, Fla., in 1998. Serious illnesses subsequently cut short his physical therapy career in the DFW Metroplex.

God graciously spared his life twice, 2005 and 2008, inspiring him to write two books available online: “Jesus Really Said It: The Words of Jesus Compiled by Steve Sandin,” and “Make the Right Choice: A Personal Decision Guide.”  More recently he wrote “So What Happens Next?” a tract with insights about eternity. Steve’s faith, integrity, and strong spirit have impacted all who have known him. His parents are very proud of his accomplishments and declare: I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth (III John 1:4 NASB). Steve will be greatly missed. His positive influence will continue.

His survivors include his parents of Greenville; sister Angela Fenske and husband, Beau of Flower Mound; nieces Emily and Julie Fenske; nephew Daniel Fenske; grandmother Billie Caffey of Mineola, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey Paul Sandin in 1974; grandmother Jean Sandin in 1997; grandfather Gunnar Robert Sandin in 1956; and grandfather Pratha Eugene Caffey in 1991.

Pallbearers will be Scott Anderson, Trey Bahm, Chris Brown, Kelvin Marsh, Matthew Mattson, and Mark Shuman.

The family requests memorials be made to the Greenville Christian School, 8420 Jack Finney Blvd., Greenville, TX 75402.
