Ruth Davis Toney, 85, of Caddo Mills went to be with her Lord and family in her home in heaven on Feb. 24, 2013.
She was born on Sept. 29, 1927, in Fresno, Calif., to Floyd and Lula Grokett.
She loved people, western dancing, gardening and flowers. She taught water aerobics at the YMCA in Greenville and worked in food service at schools and churches for many years.
She also worked at the Resistol Hat Factory many years ago. She loved cooking, spending time with her family and many friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Davis; her parents; son Tommy Davis; a granddaughter, Kristie Davis; grandsons David Brookshire and Jon Roper; her former husband, Clint Toney; and brothers Howard and Jake Grokett.
Ruth is survived by daughters Dian and husband David Roper of Hot Springs, Ark., Janet and husband Lloyd Webb of Caddo Mills and Rhonda and husband Scott Scherb of Decatur; sisters Joyce Furr and Carolyn Pedigo; brothers Jimmie and Raymond Grokett; 11 grandsons; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Services are at 2 p.m. today at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville. Interment follows the service at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney.
Pallbearers are Freddy and Gary Helmuth, Jimmie Grokett Jr., Shell Gunnels, Keith Bousman and Frank Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Grokett and Tom Sumrow.
