Our dear, precious mother, Fay Moore Steen, 81-year-old Celeste resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior and with our Father, Junior Steen, Friday March 1, 2013, at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
Her funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday March 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Commerce Church of Christ. David Gibson and Jackie Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the McWright Cemetery.
Family visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral chapel in Leonard.
Mrs. Steen was born September 5, 1931 at Barry, Texas. Her parents were Stanford and Dora Garrett Moore. She was a high school graduate and a member of the Commerce Church of Christ and was a Bible Class teacher for 35 years.
She married J.F. “Junior” Steen July 4, 1953, at Blooming Grove. She was actively involved in the selling of jewelry and antiques.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Lannie and Cindy Steen and Ronny and Vicki Steen of Celeste and James and Victoria Steen of Greenville; her daughter and son-in-law: Elaine and Paul Gregory of Celeste; her nine grandchildren and her 10 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Alvin Moore of Hutchins, Mary Ferrell of Blooming Grove, Margaret Jinkins of Corsicana, Frances Whitner of Italy, Lewis “Bud” Moore of Barry and Molly Southard of Blooming Grove. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Moore and Sidney Moore, and a sister, Iva Price.
Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home of Leonard is in charge of arrangements.
