RICHARDSON —
Betty Sue Cathey, 79, of Richardson passed away Feb. 24, 2013, at Richardson Methodist Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Wichita Falls on Dec. 1, 1933, to Jesse and Bessie Swift.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Squire Burton Cathey; her son, Carl Cathey and husband Jimmy Moe of Grass Valley, Calif.; her daughter, Deena McElroy and husband Nickey of Richardson; son Brad Cathey and wife Julie of Millsap; five grandchildren, Nigel McElroy of Richardson, Morgan Cathey Clark and husband Brett and Shelby Cathey, both of Gordon, Lane Strickland and wife Melissa of San Angelo, and Jacob Strickland of Millsap; four great-grandchildren, Jasper Clark, Jace Strickland, Peighton Strickland and Serenity Van Houghton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whose lives were touched in many ways by Betty.
She was preceded in death by brothers Lloyd Swift and Harold Swift and sister Iona Houchin.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Edwards Funeral Home, 115 Watson Pl., Strawn, Texas 76475.
A graveside service will be held at the Van Sickle Cemetery in Caddo Mills at 10 a.m. Thursday.
