Walton Alverson

GREENVILLE — Walton Alverson, 90, of Greenville passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Legends Healthcare. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Royce Litchfield officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. 

Walton was born on Oct. 13, 1922, in Boswell, Okla. to Avery and Della McComic Alverson. He married Peggy Mae Henderson in Greenville on April 7, 1951. 

He was a veteran serving his country with the U. S. Army and worked with White Star Laundry for many years.

He is survived by his sister, Robbie Woodruff of Greenville; nephews, Randy Turner and wife Kay of Greenville, Tommy Parmer and wife Ranell of Wichita Falls; nieces, Pat Halback and husband Tommy of Prosper, Donna Fox and husband Kevin of Commerce, Debra McDaniel and husband Danny of Campbell; sisters-in-law, Loyse Turner and husband Elbert of Greenville, Paulette Norfleet and husband Frank of Greenville and Dora Alverson of Commerce. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; twin brother, Wilson Alverson; brother, I. D. Parmer; and sisters, Modell Ramey, Opal Candler, and Ende Estelle Alverson.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Fox, Jeremy Halback, Matthew Halback, Tommy Halback, Danny McDaniel, Tommy Parmer, Randy Turner, and Trey Turner.

The family would like to give their thanks to Legends Healthcare and staff for the special care and support that was provided for Walton during his time there.
