Bill Burroughs

GREENVILLE — YANTIS — William “Bill” Henry Burroughs, 81, formerly of Greenville, was called home to his Lord and Savior, March 6, 2013, while at his residence in Yantis, Texas.

Bill was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Greenville to Florence and John Burroughs. He received his GED in 1948 through the U. S. Army. He proudly served his country from 1949 to 1955 by joining the U. S. Army and serving during the Korean conflict and later in Japan. After leaving the Army, Bill had various careers including farming, troubleshooting at ASARCO copper mine, tractor mechanic, and postal worker. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2003. He loved to fish, spending many Saturday mornings down at the Number 4 reservoir outside of Greenville.

His deepest gratitude goes to Bob and Brenda Robinson for the loving care provided to him after his wife’s passing in 2009 until his passing.

Beloved uncle, husband, and father, Bill is survived by his nieces, Brenda Robinson and her husband Bob of Yantis, Peggy Woodard and her son Joshua, of Greenville; his daughters and son, Lisa Bennett and her husband Keith of Chandler, Ariz., Pamela Lindholdt and her husband Brian of Amarillo, and son Michael English and his wife Jodi McLean, of Monterey, Calif.; four grandchildren, Chris Faulds, Lakota and Dalton Lindholdt, and Sara-Hope Barron.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Burroughs, in 2009.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
