Billy Ray Bryant, born July 8, 1928, passed away March 7, 2013, at his home in Seven Points with daughter Vicki and family and friends by his side.
Billy courageously battled cancer for more than a year, never complaining and always smiling.
Billy retired from Lone Star Gas with 34-plus years of dedicated service. He was a devoted husband, loving father and friend to all. Billy was an avid race car fan and driver who competitively raced until the age of 78. He also loved fishing, his garden and home projects.
His latest passion was mentoring young neighborhood boys in car restoration, overhaul, welding and general maintenance. He also loved researching and watching antique car shows and televised auctions.
Billy was preceded in death by his adoring wife, Patsy; his parents; three sisters, Margie, Nelda and Dell; and one brother, Charles.
Surviving are a son, David Bryant and wife Hope; daughter Vicki Bryant Thomas and husband Terry; a sister, Mary Hastings; one grandson, David Ray Bryant Jr. and wife Rebecca; and four granddaughters.
A graveside service and goodbye will be at 11 a.m. Sunday in Kemp under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to your local American Cancer Society or the Air Force Association.
