Leonard Stanley

WOLFE CITY — Leonard D. Stanley, 52, of Wolfe City, passed away Saturday evening at his home.

Mr. Stanley was born Dec. 30, 1959, in Leonard to James and Lorene Stanley. He married Nancy Bryant on May 17, 1997, in Bonham.

Leonard was a homebuilder, a member of the Wolfe City Volunteer Fire Department for 18 years and was an honorary member of the Excelsior Lodge 505 in Wolfe City. 

His interest included raising cattle, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends and especially his grandkids. Leonard was also a member of the Bois D’Arc Creek Cowboy Church in Edhube.

Survivors are his wife of Wolfe City, two daughters; Roxanne James; Leah Cox and husband Cody; and stepson, Bryant Sanford, all of Wolfe City. grandkids; Karli James, Cody Wayne Cox and Molly Kate Cox.

Mr. Stanley is also survived by his parents of Leonard;  two brothers; David Stanley and wife Vickie, and Monty Stanley;  three sisters,  Dell McNear and husband Jerry; Tammy Wood and husband JR and Vicki Griffis Cobb; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church in Wolfe City at 3 p.m. today conducted by Kevin Towery, with burial in Grove Hill Cemetery near Leonard.  Visitation will be at the church from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. today prior to the service.

Pallbearers are Joe Hodge, Larry Keele, Ron Kent, Curtis Stanbery, Clint Dawson, Lee Smith, Monty Stanley and David Stanley.

Arrangements are under the direction of R.W. Owens and Son of Wolfe City.
