Wallace Stone

GREENVILLE — Wallace C. Stone, 87, passed away following a brief illness on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at his home in Greenville.

W.C. was born in Graham, Ky., to Victor and Norma Stone on Jan. 1, 1925. W.C. married Clementine Warren on Jan. 6, 1947, in Louisville, Ky. To this union was born a daughter, Pamela.

W.C. served his country with honor in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for more than 30 years for MKT Railroad in various positions, retiring as a yardmaster.

W.C. was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and a master gardener. He had a green thumb and loved to make things grow.

But his greatest joy was his family. W.C. loved to spend time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. W.C. was a devout Christian.

He served as deacon in several churches in the area and was a member of the Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

His love for his Lord and Savior was evident in his every action of every day. He will truly be missed.

W.C. is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Norma; two brothers; three sisters; and his stepson, Joe Bill Henning.

Those left to celebrate his life include his wife of 65 years, Clementine; his daughter, Pamela Duquette and husband Joel; grandchildren Courtney Duquette, Warren Duquette, Rhonda Bennett and Richard Henning; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; his brother, Bill Stone; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as extended family, friends and neighbors.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Terrace Baptist Church in Greenville. Rev. Royce Stitchfield will officiate. Interment will immediately follow the service at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Caddo Mills.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the the funeral home.
