Tim Jones Jr.

GREENVILLE — Samuel Timothy “Tim” Jones Jr., 74, of Greenville died Dec. 12, 2012, at Hunt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at Highland Terrace Baptist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Royce Litchfield will officiate. Interment will be in Memoryland Memorial Park. 

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones was born in Dallas on Aug. 4, 1938. He was the son of Samuel Timothy Jones Sr. and Georgia Mae Renfro Jones. On April 19, 1959, he married Beverly Jean McCormack in Fort Sumner, N.M. He was a longtime insurance agent in Greenville and a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church. Mr. Jones attended Texas Christian University and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his sons, Tim Jones III and wife Sharon of Campbell and Jeff Jones and wife Chris of Greenville; daughters Jinger Turner and husband John of Greenville and Terri McCullough and husband Pat of Ardmore, Okla.; brothers Henry Jones of Glen Rose and Philip Jones of Granbury; sisters Peggy Besselievre of Fort Worth, Willie Castle of Austin, Georgia Rhodes of Glen Rose, Catherine Cornett of Walnut Springs and Naomi Stewart of Joshua; grandchildren Nikki Martin and husband Justin, Kayla Converse and husband Cody, Taylor Jones, Trenton Jones, Shannon Milton and husband Justin, Justin Turner, Macy Jones and Patrick Jones; great-grandchild MacKenzie Milton; nieces Amy Lewis and husband Justin, Ann Marie Rutledge and husband James, Kimberly McCullough and Emily McCullough; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. His family was the most important thing in his life. 

The family would like to give special recognition to Triena Darden and Ty Scibner for the loving care they provided to Mr. Jones.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly Jean Jones, on Nov. 26, 2008; a brother, Lewis Jones; and grandson Mathew Jones.

Grandsons serving as pallbearers will be Taylor Jones, Trenton Jones, Cody Converse, Justin Martin, Justin Milton, Justin Turner and Patrick Jones.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the giver’s choice.
