Rev. Thomas “Tom” Franklin Barnes of Robertsdale, Ala., 77, passed away on Nov. 29, 2012, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Bells, Tenn., a man who loved the Lord, his wife and family. Rev. Barnes served in PCA Presbyterian Churches in Itta Bena and Morgan City, Miss., Opelika, Ala., Greenville, and Robertsdale and Loxley, Ala.

He touched the lives of everyone he met from the pulpit, schools, and hospitals where he ministered.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Walter Barnes and Del Vestal Barnes of Munford, Tenn.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Sasser Barnes; two sons, Thomas Barnes of St. Simons Island, Ga., and Robert Barnes of Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Claire Barnes Ahern of Olive Branch, Miss.; and his eight grandchildren, Gary, Josh, Bryce, Trey and Will Barnes, and Jon Thomas, Helen Claire and Mary Morgan Ahern.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at the McIlwain Presbyterian Church in Pensacola, Fla. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday in Belleview Cemetery in Bells, Tenn.

Visitation will be Monday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.

Mack Funeral Home, Inc. of Robertsdale, Ala. is in charge of arrangements.
