Morris Miller Ashmore, 79, of Ladonia, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 25, 2012, in the Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie with Rev. Reuben Trussell officiating. Interment will follow in the Ladonia Cemetery under the direction of the Delta Funeral Home of Ladonia.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ashmore was born in Tippo, Miss. on Jan. 16, 1933, the son of Robert Lee Ashmore and Mamie Hicks Ashmore. He married Betty Treadway on Jan. 9, 1965.

Ashmore was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He was a retired truck driver and had lived in Ladonia since 1987.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Casandra Ashmore.

Survivors include his wife: Betty Ashmore, four sons: Morris Ashmore, Jr., Michael Ashmore, Kenneth Ashmore, and Richard Dale Ashmore, three stepdaughters: Debra Lee Gantzer, Mickey Young, and Teresa Jackson, eight grandchildren: Crystal Strickland, Jeremy Talbott, Stephanie Hammonds, Michael Young, Michelle Young, Ashley Ashmore, Richard Ashmore, Jr., and Amanda Ashmore, and six great-grandchildren.
