Hazel Hamm

GREENVILLE — Funeral service for Hazel L. Hamm, 73, of Greenville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Greenville with Dr. Roosevelt Broach, senior pastor; Verlon Frazier, pastor and eulogist; and M.C. McGruder, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Hamm will lie in state from 2 p.m. Thursday until Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, 5100 I-30 in Greenville; visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Hazel was born in Ore City on Jan. 27, 1939, the daughter of Louis E. and Oretha “Finley” Armstrong. Both parents preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hamm was a retired administrative “principal assistant” for the Greenville and Dallas Independent School Districts for 28 years.

Hazel was the choir president at Goodwill Baptist Church; she loved to cook and loved her sports — especially the Mavericks and the Rangers. She was a 28-year survival of breast cancer.

Survivors include three sons, Milton Davis, Allen Harrison and Bobby Davis; three daughters, Barbara Johnson, Lillie Johnson and Lorine Williams; two brothers, Floyd Ward and Dennis Ward; three sisters, Ruby Stuman, Sarah Washington and Jean Cooper; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends.

Services are entrusted to Mason & Mason Mortuary, 200 Putman Street,  in Sulphur Springs (903-885-9506).
