GREENVILLE —
Eugene “Gene” Lucas passed away Jan. 18, 2013, in Carrollton.
Gene was born to T.Z. and Mildred Lucas on Oct. 18, 1941, in Lancaster, S.C. Gene worked for F&F Steel in Greenville for several years. Gene served his country with honor in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, T.Z. and Mildred Lucas, and his sister, Veronica Lucas.
He is survived by his son, Patrick Lucas and wife Andrea; a daughter, Gena Short and husband Steve; grandchildren Mason and Logan Lucas and Michael and Salanna Short; sister Toni Shelnut and husband Leslie; as well as numerous friends and neighbors.
A gathering of friends is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home in Greenville.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Quinlan.
