Treacile Dickey

GREENVILLE — Treacile Marion Dickey passed away peacefully Aug. 23, 2012.

Graveside services will be on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Brigham Cemetery in Campbell, under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Born March 1, 1929, in Lansing, Mich., she was the sixth child of seven born to Russell and Clarice Williams Dickey.

Treacile was a self-taught oil paint artist and could have sold her work but never did. She did however give them to friends and family.

She had a love for cooking, canning, and sewing handed down to her by her mother. She made most all the clothes the family wore from casual to dress to special occasion. Meals were done with love and shared with her family and many family friends. Holiday meals were done to perfection.

Treacile had a spitfire temper but also had a heart of gold and always made amends and she had a smile that could melt anyone’s heart.

She loved jewelry and the more it glittered, the better. Another trait passed on from her mother who was known as “Ms. Gotsrocks.” Treacile had a funny disposition and a way of making those around her laugh.

In her “retirement,” Treacile raised registered goats, Nubians, and Alpines. They were raised for show and won many ribbons and trophies for confirmation and mild production.

She became known as “the goat lady” and her goats were much sought after by other “goat people” looking to improve their own herds.

Treacile had been married for many years but never had children. She would always joke saying, “I always wanted kids but never expected them to have 4 legs.”

She was an avid animal lover and always had dogs, cats, and other animals, both purebreds and those of questionable linage. They all were loved the same.

Survivors include her sister, Peggie Morgan; brother, Richard Dickey; nieces, Patrica Smith, Lee Bruning, Susan (Bunny) Holmes, nephews; Patrick Moss, William Morgan, Martin Morgan, Guy Morgan, Dennis Dickey, Charles Dickey, Patrick Dickey, and John Lechman; and special cousin, Don Abel.

She also leaves behind deat longtime friends, Karen and Wayne Coshow and Kody Wilkes; two of her last rescued dogs, Marley and her constant bedside companion Hanna Rose, numerous grand, and great grand, nieces and nephews and other relatives to numerous to mention but so loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-dad, Joseph Novak, three sisters, infant Ruth Naoma Dickey, Patricia Dickey, and Katherine Lechman, and one nephew, William Dickey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Moss, Martin Morgan, William Morgan, Jack Morgan, Charles Dickey, Wray Smith, and Bryan Smith.

Although her passing is deeply felt by her sister and brother, she loved the Lord and is in His care for eternity which gives them peace.  Amen.
