Felix Frazier Jr.

GREENVILLE — Felix Andrew Frazier Jr. was born Aug. 22, 1918, to Annie Aline (Graham) Frazier and Felix Andrew Frazier Sr. in Greenville. He went home to the Lord on Aug. 27, 2012. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Veronica Greanead officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.  

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Frazier graduated from Greenville High School in 1936 and attended Wesley College and Texas A&M in College Station. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941 and graduated from the U.S. Army Air Force Flying School for Pilot Training with Class 42B as a second lieutenant in 1942. He served in combat in World War II in Europe with the 367th and 358th Fighter Groups, flying P-47 Thunderbolts (with “God as my co-pilot”). Mr. Frazier was awarded the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Distinguished Unit Citation Badge, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with six Bronze Service Stars, and retired in 1945 at the rank of major. He also retired from the Engineering Department of the Texas State Highway Department after 39 years. Mr. Frazier was a member of the Westview United Methodist Church.

Felix married the love of his life, Dorothy Mae Spray, on March 30, 1941.  

He is survived by Dorothy and their four children and spouses, Felix Andrew Frazier III and Joyce of Rockwall, Stephen Victor Frazier and Kathy of Greenville, Candy Kelly and Dick of San Diego, Calif., and Phillip Lee Frazier and Pat of Austin; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Hohimer of Royse City, Stacey Johnson of Greenville, Byron Frazier of Lewisville, Felix Andrew Frazier IV of Rockwall, Jeff Frazier of Austin, Wendi Wade of Canyon Lake, and Robin Smeal and John Kelley, both of San Diego, Calif.; 14 great-grandchildren, Jonathan Malone of Rockwall, Kale Malone of Royse City, Josh Johnson of Houston, Erik Johnson of Denton, Brendan Johnson of Rockwall, Payton Politoski of Greenville, Lauren Johnson of Rockwall, Casey Frazier of McKinney, Felix V and Tanner Frazier of Rockwall, Zachary, Aidan and Salah Frazier of Lewisville, Jaclyn Smeal of San Diego, Calif., and one on the way in Austin; brother Edwin B. Frazier of Rockwall; sister Mary Ann and brother-in-law Albert Saffold of Yuma, Ariz.; and longtime great friends Angelo and Evelyn Strano of Greenville.

His parents and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Frazier, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers will be Byron Frazier, Felix (Andy) Frazier IV, Jeff Frazier, Payton Politoski, Jonathan Malone and Kale Malone.

The family request memorials be made to the Westview United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 6407 Sayle Street, Greenville, Texas  75402.
