Jean Enochs

COMMERCE — Graveside services for Jean Gibson Enochs, 83, of Marshall and Commerce, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce under the direction of Downs Funeral Home. A visitation will follow the service at the First Christian Church of Commerce. 

The family will receive friends at the Downs Funeral Home in Marshall from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Ms. Enochs passed away Aug. 23, 2012, in Marshall.

Jean was born Aug. 25, 1928, to Grady “Moon” Gibson and Maxie Bryan Gibson. On Oct. 16, 1988, she married Rev. John Enochs Jr., who preceded her in death in April of 1991.

Jean retired from East Texas State University (presently Texas A&M University-Commerce) in 1989 after serving as a staff member for 36 years.

She was a former volunteer with Meals on Wheels, where she contributed baked and homemade items for the annual auction, and the Bargain Box, as well as a former member of Hunt County Retired Teachers, Presbyterian Hospital Auxiliary, Delphian Club, Commerce Alliance for Ministry, First Christian Church and Christian Women’s Fellowship.

She enjoyed her retirement along with walking, playing the piano, listening to music, cross-stitch and quilting. She was especially devoted to her church.

Surviving Jean are children, Ron Enochs and wife, Denise, of Marshall, Kathy Eppers and husband, Cecil, of Fort Worth and Sarah Ammons and husband, Robert, of McKinney;grandchildren, John Enochs, Leah Goswick, Gatson Ammons, Truitt Ammons and Micah Ammons; two great-grandchildren, Max Goswick and Scout Goswick; and numerous cousins.
