Mary Lancaster

GREENVILLE — Funeral Services for Mary Elna Holder Lancaster, 92, of Malakoff, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Malakoff Church of Christ with Mr. Lavelle Layfield officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Dallas under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.

Mary Elna Holder Lancaster was born November 29, 1919 in Winchester, Tennessee to the late Davis C. and Nancy J. Carlton Holder. She passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 in Athens.     

Mrs. Lancaster previously resided in Rockwall before moving to Malakoff in 1998. She worked with her husband in the medical field, but most importantly loved being at home working in her flower beds and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Malakoff Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roland Duane Lancaster, Sr. in 1997, son, Roland Duane Lancaster, Jr., Brother, Morgan Holder, and sister, Maggie Holder Isbell.

Survivors include daughters, Janice Lancaster LaRue and husband Todd, Malakoff, Duana Lancaster Marsh, Rockwall; daughter-in-law, Celia Edwards; brothers, Pete Holder, Jack Holder, Max Holder, Parker Holder, Kenneth Holder; sister, Ruth Holder Sons; grandchildren, Tracey Childers, Jeremy Cockrum, Justin Cockrum, Meredith Cockrum, Mallory LaRue, Molly LaRue, Addison Marsh, Madalyn Marsh; and great-grandchildren, Tess Childers, Emma Childers, and Mason Cockrum.

Pallbearers include Jeremy Cockrum, Justin Cockrum, Bill Faulk, Mike Massey, Jeff LaRue, and Alan LaRue. Honorary Pallbearers include Dr. Carl McKenney, Dennis Smith, and Jeanne Atkinson.

 The family would like to express their heartfelt thankfulness to West Place Nursing Home and Genesis Hospice for the loving care they provided Mrs. Lancaster in her time of need.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. You may light a candle or write condolences to the family at www.hannigansmith.com.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
