Ann Gravely

Ann Alleene Gravely was born Aug. 22 in 1944, to parents Edgar and Virginia (Christopherson) Ablowich. She was the youngest and only girl of three children. Her childhood years were spent in Greenville. Graduating from Greenville High School in 1962, her class just celebrated their 50th class reunion.

She graduated from the University of Texas-Austin with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.  Ann worked for the state of Texas, Office of the Auditor before pursuing her true passion as a full-time mother.

She met and married Charles Gravely in 1968 and continued working until the birth of their son, Brian, when she became a stay-at-home mom. Twins Scott and Damen soon followed, although Damen tragically fell ill and passed away shortly after his birth.

Ann was a dog-lover who owned several dogs throughout her life. She loved to cook — Southern cooking and entertaining. She was an avid fan of crossword puzzles and her radio was always set to country music.

She was a loving grandmother who enjoyed spending quiet time with her children and grandchildren.

At the age of 68 and a resident of Prior Lake, Minn., Ann Gravely passed away peacefully in her residence and entered God’s arms on the morning of Dec. 7, 2012.

Forever loved, Ann will be deeply missed by her son, Brian (Amy) Gravely of Shakopee, Minn.; Scott Gravely of Northglenn, Colo.; twin grandchildren Luke and Sophie; and brothers Allen (Mary Lou) Ablowich of Virginia Beach, Va., and Ronald (Ann) Ablowich of Durham, N.H.; and father of her children, Charles Gravely.

Pallbearers for Ann will be Brian Gravely, Scott Gravely, Paul Goebel, Jonathan Goebel, Mark Balzarini, Thomas Goebel, Ronald Ablowich, and Allen Ablowich.

Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. today with visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Church of St. Michael, 16311 Duluth Avenue SE, Prior Lake, Minn. 55372.  Father Tom Sieg will officiate. Ann will be laid to rest at St. Michael Cemetery in Prior Lake, Minn.

The Gravely family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation Services, Prior Lake Chapel.
