GREENVILLE —
Nell R. Callens, 79, passed away quietly at her home surrounded by her family on Oct. 25, 2012.
Nell was born to Jim and Edith Nelson on March 18, 1933, in Caddo Mills. She would meet and later marry the love of her life, Bill Callens, on Sept. 12, 1953. To this union were born a son, Wesley, and a daughter, Donna.
Nell was a lifelong resident of Caddo Mills and Greenville, known throughout the area as the hostess of “Welcome to Greenville.” Her warm smile and open heart made her a beloved member of the community.
Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Edith, as well as two brothers, William Nelson and J.C. Nelson.
Those left to celebrate her life include Bill Callens, her husband of 59 years; son Wesley Callens and wife Stephanie; daughter Donna Meador and husband Bart; several grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Velma Watson and Kathleen Wygal; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Peters Funeral Home. Brother Royce Litchfield will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
