GREENVILLE —
Kenneth Russell, 74, of Greenville passed away Oct. 10, 2012, in Irving.
Kenneth was a nature lover and an outdoorsman. He loved to fish, hunt and camp. He gardened and was good at all he turned his hand to.
Kenneth served proudly in the U.S. Navy. He was a hardworking businessman, multi-talented in construction and renovation.
He started Russell Electric in 1983. When his sister-in-law died in an accident, Kenneth stepped up, taking in first her oldest son, ultimately adopting him and naming his business “Russell and Son Electric.”
Later, they took in her daughter and raised them both as their own. He had a sense of humor and was a good storyteller. He battled his disease with a courage and strength that was amazing. He will be greatly missed.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ella Russell of Greenville; son and daughter–in-law Dennis and Donna Russell of Greenville; daughter and son-in-law Janice and Albert Locke of Greenville; half brother Edward Dzalak of Arizona; grandchildren Edward Mote, James Russell, Trey Locke, Rhyad Russell; and the gang of hunting, fishing, walking and coffee drinking buddies.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Russell.
A graveside service is at 2 p.m. today at Memoryland Memorial Park under the direction of Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville.
Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice Care or to a charity of choice.
