KARAL WIMBERLEY

GREENVILLE — ANSON — Karal Duane Wimberley, 77, died Oct. 6, 2012, at his home.  Services are at 1 p.m. today at Adams-Graham Funeral Home, 732 Avenue I in  Anson 79501. Burial follows at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Karal was born May 15, 1935, in Anson to Christopher and Mary Lee Buie Wimberley. He married Donna Mae Smith on Dec. 1, 1959. He was the father of three, Darla Wimberley Hermann (Tom), Duane Wimberley and Ron Wimberley (Jacque).  He passed away in his home of 36 years on Oct. 5, 2012.

He had 14 grandchildren, Kristi, Colt, Kolby, Kade, Raigan, Zack, Bailey, Jacob, Kason, Sophia, Kamryn, Grace, Elijah and AvaClaire; and was a great-grandfather to five, Alex, Karla, Riley, Peyton and Kinsie.

Karal was preceded in death by wife Donna; both parents, Chris and Mary Lee; four brothers, Weldon, David, Coy (Butch) and Clay Wimberley.  

He is survived by his sister, Virginia Wimberley McIntire; aunts Ruth Buie Starns and Jo Wimberley Stout; all three children; all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Karal and Donna were married 51 years, 11 months prior to her death last October. They spent their lives by each other’s side and he will be laid to rest at her side in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

After graduating high school, Karal proudly served his country in the Army. He traveled to many areas of the U.S. and to several countries abroad. He was stationed in northern Japan for several years where both of his sons were born. After he retired from the army, he and his family moved to Greenville where he lived from 1966 until his death. He worked for LTV, Walker Muffler, Wing Industries, helped build the hospital in Greenville and retired from Rubbermaid. He also raised Black Angus cattle that were a passion and a source of pride.
