Ilena Jo Weldon

GREENVILLE — Ilena Jo Weldon 82, passed away Oct. 4, 2012 at her home in Greenville from lung cancer.

Jo was born Feb. 25, 1930, on a cotton farm in White Rock; the sixth of seven children of Bertran Elhanan and Nettie Reisor. She graduated from Wolfe City High School and worked as a telephone operator in Greenville before marrying William “Billy” I. Weldon, Jr. of Ladonia.

She accompanied Billy on his 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force, living in San Antonio; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Yokota AFB, Japan, and Las Vegas, Nev. before they returned to the Hunt County area and settled in Greenville in 1968.

Jo returned to work as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell as it transitioned into the computer age. She retired in 1998 and enjoyed gardening, puttering in her house, and traveling. Her travels took her to England, France, Germany, and Italy as well as traveling extensively in the United States.

She is survived by her sons, Bill Gregory and Deborah Weldon of Flower Mound, Ronald Alan Weldon of Grapevine, and Brent N. Weldon of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughter, Dr. Dean Angela Weldon of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Autumn S. Weldon of Flomation, Ala; one great-granddaughter Lola G. Weldon also of Flomation, Ala.

 She is also survived by two sisters, Loveta Adams of Wolfe City and Geraldine Reisor of Greenville, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceeded in death by husband, William I. Weldon, Jr., in 1984 and alsoby her four brothers, Johnnie Reisor, Elvis Reisor, Bertis Reisor, and Bill Reisor. 

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Lynch Funeral Home in Caddo Mills. Lynch Funeral Service of Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Smile Train, www.smiletrain.org.
