Doris Knox

GREENVILLE — Doris “Dottie” Margaret (Knott) Knox, 92, of Greenville passed away June 22, 2012, at Briarcliff Health Center. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Wesley United Methodist Church with Steve Knox and Rev. Bill Shaddox officiating. 

Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born May 6, 1920, in Dallas, Dottie was the daughter of Rufus J. and Margaret (Bradley) Knott. In 1936 she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. 

On Dec. 25, 1937, she married Porter W. Knox who preceded her in death. In 1939, they moved to Greenville. She and her husband operated a grocery store in Greenville for a number of years. She has been a member of Wesley United Methodist Church since 1940.

Her survivors include her sons, David Knox and wife Sue of New Orleans, La., Charles A. “Dick” Knox and wife Philis of Heath, Steve Knox and wife Barbara of Greenville, and Dean Knox and wife Lois of Old Hickory, Tenn.; sister Grace Smith of Dallas; grandchildren Liza Knox of Houston, Chris and Jenni Knox of Heath, Elizabeth and Sean Kelleher of Heath, Tami and John Sederquist of Honolulu, Hawaii, Keri and Steve Magazinovic of Ripon, Calif., Stefanie Knox and Johnny of Allen, Emily and Chris Hearn of Frederick, Md., Caleb Knox of Hermitage, Tenn., Scott and Stella Willeford of Celeste, Keith and Tiffany Willeford of Greenville, and Brian and Trina Willeford of Wylie; 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. 

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Carol Ann Willeford; and one brother, Charles Knott.

Her body was donated to U.T. Southwest Medical School, in Dallas.
