Betty South

GREENVILLE — Betty Eola David South, 76, passed away in Greenville on Sept. 5, 2012.

Visitation was Sept. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home. Funeral services were Sept. 8 at 2:30 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. J.V. Scott officiated. Interment followed at the Wylie Cemetery.

Betty was born in Garland on Jan. 28, 1936. Her parents are the late Dan Davis Jr. and Lillie Mae Davis. Betty married Ralph South on Sept. 8, 1952. Before retiring Betty had worked on an assembly line, but since she had worked hard all of her life, after she retired she worked as a caregiver for children, but hated the term “Nanny.” She also enjoyed her numerous trips to Louisiana and Oklahoma.

Surviving Betty are two sons, Ronnie South and wife Brenda and Rodney South and wife Patricia; two daughters, Vickie Mitchell and her husband Phil, Candy South and her boyfriend David Lawhead. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bryan, Melandie, Erica and Aimee; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Ethan, Braelyn, and Everlee; three brothers, Paul Wayne Davis and wife Virginia, George Davis and wife Jerry, and L.C. Davis and wife Mary; and a sister, Donna Davis-Bornholdt.

Preceding Betty in death was her husband Ralph, sister, Patsy, and parents, Dan and Lillie Mae Davis.

Serving as pallbears were her family, Paul Wayne Davis, L. C. Davis, Rodney South, Bryan Mitchell, David Lawhead, Erica South, Aimee South and Candy Smith.
