GREENVILLE —
Vera Louise Smith, 78, of Greenville passed away on Sept. 7, 2012, at the Hunt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Wisdom officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Vera was born on June 27, 1934, in Peoria, Ill. to Leslie and Katherine Tjarks Griffith. She married James Smith on August 9, 1954, in Kirkwood, Mo. She worked as the bookkeeper and secretary for their building supply company.
Vera was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church for more than 30 years and a former president of her Sunday School Class. She was also involved with the Greenville Newcomers Club.
She is survived by her husband of Greenville; daughter, Lynn Owen of Royse City; brother, Lloyd Griffith of Washington, Ill.; grandson, Jason Brewer and wife Lori of El Paso and a great-grandson, Merrik Brewer of El Paso.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Clifford Griffith.
Memorials may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 5302 Highway 69 South, Greenville, 75402.
