Today is a good day to wear a costume, get scared and/or grab some candy.
A wide range of Halloween, trunk or treat, fall festival and Hallelujah Night activities are planned across Hunt County today. The Greenville Chamber of Commerce is conducting another ghost walk tour and two area haunted houses are operating until late tonight.
— The City of Greenville, along with Hunt County, DrugFree Greenville and downtown merchants are hosting Halloween on the Square from 4 to 6 p.m. today. Lee, Stonewall, Washington and Johnson Streets bordering the Courthouse Square will be closed and businesses will be opening their doors for trick-or-treaters. Live music will be performed by Bad Moon Rising, a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band. There will be costume contests for ages 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 starting at 5 p.m. on the north steps of the courthouse and there will be inflatable slides and a bounce house along with free popcorn, cotton candy and bottled water.
— Crossroads Mall, 6834 Wesley Street in Greenville, will offer indoor trick-or-treating starting at 6 p.m. today.
— The City of Commerce presents the annual Halloween on the Square event at 5:30 p.m. today.
— The City of Emory will have Trunk or Treat on the downtown square between 6 and 8 p.m. today.
— A trunk or treat is scheduled at West Tawakoni City Park from 6 to 9:30 p.m. today.
— Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 6801 Wesley Street in Greenville, is hosting a Hallelujah Harvest with fun, food and games between 5 and 7 p.m. today.
— Cornerstone Community Church, 6606 Wesley Street in Greenville, has a trunk or treat scheduled for 5:30 p.m. today.
— Shady Grove Baptist Church, 3507 FM 499, Greenville, has scheduled a Fall Festival from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, with a bounce house, slide, games, candy and more.
— Faith Outreach Church, 1501 Division Street in Greenville has Hallelujah Night scheduled starting at 6 p.m. today with free hot dogs, popcorn, drinks, candy, a bounce-house, dunking booth and games.
— First Baptist Church of Farmersville, 124 South Washington Street, is having a free fall fest with bounce houses, games, trunk or treat and a hayride, starting at 6 p.m. today.
— Highland Terrace Baptist Church, 3939 Joe Ramsey Boulevard in Greenville, has trunk or treat, along with rides, games and a play, scheduled to start at 6 p.m. today.
— Lone Oak United Methodist Church is hosting trunk or treat, starting at 6 p.m. today.
— Near Caddo Mills, the New Life Church at Covenant Ranch on FM 36 South is hosting Hallelujah Night at Covenant Ranch Arena between 6 and 8 p.m., featuring games, a petting zoo, inflatables and candy.
— Vansickle Baptist Church, 2181 County Road 2246, Greenville, is hosting its annual Fall Festival with games, a bounce house, popcorn, candy, a barrel train and more starting at 6 p.m. today.
— Westview United Methodist Church, 6407 Sayle Street in Greenville, will be having Trunk of Treat between 6 and 7:30 p.m. today.
— The Greenville Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau is conducting a Ghost Walk, beginning at 7 p.m. near the Heritage Garden and Farmer’s Market. The tour spans several city blocks and includes stops at many historic landmarks, many of whom reportedly have ghostly connections. Tickets are $12 per person. Those wanting to reserve a spot or who want more information can call the Chamber at 903-455-1510.
— The “Haunt House” will be open today night at 4935 Interstate 30 West in Caddo Mills, with a special “Frights Out” event scheduled Saturday. The “Haunt House” is described as a walk-through attraction “filled with terrifying live actors, Hollywood style sets and incredible monsters.” Admission is $17 per person, with VIP tickets available for $7 more and with free parking. — The Haunted Landmark, a project of the Greenville Rotary Club, was built inside the Landmark on Lee Street, 2920 Lee in downtown Greenville.
