GREENVILLE —
A local company known for its sweets recently won acclaim for its spicier products.
Mary of Puddin Hill of Greenville won multiple awards during ZestFest 2012, held January 27-29 in Irving.
Owner Ken Bain said the new Texas Hot Lava Pie received two first place accolades.
“It is like our Fiery Snowball, but it is a whole pie,” Bain said.
The pie won first place in the “Zesty Sweets: Candy or Chocolate Consumer Ready”, “Cook Off: Desserts & Baked Goods” challenges during the festival, as well as a second place award for new products.
Mary of Puddin Hill’s entry was one of 704 items judged during the event at the Irving Convention Center.
“We have been winning since 2006 starting with our Habanero Peanut Brittle, Fiery Texas Snow Ball and now the Texas Hot Lava Pie,” Bain said.
