Knights of Columbus Hall burglarized
GREENVILLE — For the second time in a little more than four months, someone burglarized the Knights of Columbus Hall in Greenville.
And, for the second time in a little more than four months, the alleged culprits were caught in the act.
According to a report from the Greenville Police Department, at approximately 12:05 a.m. Monday, an officer discovered an open door at the Hall, 2705 Sunset Strip. Two additional officers responded to assist and two juvenile suspects were discovered in the process of burglarizing the building.
Officers discovered a short-barreled shotgun and an illegal knife next to one of the suspects. The suspects had stolen several bottles of liquor and had spray-painted graffiti on the side of the building.
Both juveniles, ages 14 and 15, were placed in the Hunt County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of burglary of a building, failure to identify and criminal mischief. The 14-year old was also charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon.
John David Sampson, 21, of Greenville, received one indictment in November for burglary of a building. Sampson was alleged to have been one of three people to have broken into the Knights of Columbus Hall in Greenville on the night of Aug. 30 and to have stolen bottles of alcohol. Sampson and the two juveniles were reportedly found with the alcohol after the pickup Sampson was driving was pulled over by the Greenville Police Department shortly after the reported burglary.
