More rain brings more floods to county

Friday was just another day in an already wetter than normal fall for Hunt County.

A total of 1.39 inches of rain was reported at Majors Field Municipal Airport in Greenville between 2:05 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Friday, with a chance of additional showers possible overnight and into this morning.

The precipitation was heavy at times and caused widespread flooding across the region. A flood warning was in effect for portions of Hunt County Friday evening, due to flooding being reported along the Cowleech Fork and South Fork of the Sabine River.

Storm spotters reported numerous roads closed due to flooding as of Friday afternoon across eastern Collin County, especially in the areas around Josephine and Nevada.

The forecast from the National Weather Service Friday indicated the rain was expected to end across North Texas sometime this morning, with another chance of showers or storms Monday night, before chilly conditions return in the days leading up to Thanksgiving.
