EMORY — A new hotel in Emory could be hosting guests as early as next fall.
Last month, Ross and Marry Bush signed papers to purchase property in the Emory Business Park with plans to build a Best Western hotel.
“We have completed the transaction on the land,” said Clyde Smith, director of the City of Emory Development Corporation.
The hotel will be located on U.S. Highway 69 across from Brookshire’s.
The groundbreaking for the hotel is scheduled in January 2010 with a completion date sometime next fall. The three-story building will contain 51 guest rooms.
According to Smith, the hotel will bring more visitors to the area and thus promote local businesses.
“To the best of my knowledge, it will be the single largest private commercial development in the county,’ said Smith. “It will be located at the gateway to Lake Fork and we are excited about the opportunity it provides for the community. The hotel and motel taxes will be used to promote tourism in the area and thus help local businesses.”
