GREENVILLE —
Aviation enthusiasts are being invited to come celebrate the beginning of the summer with a three day event at an airport south of Greenville.
Taylor Airport is hosting the “Start The Summer Flyin’ Fly-In”, starting today and continuing through Saturday. Walt and Rachael Meziere purchased the landing strip from the previous owner and are in the process of fully restoring the facility.
The airport is 10 miles south of Greenville, and three miles north of Quinlan on State Highway 34 in Boles Home. Events are scheduled each day starting today with a karaoke show, an outdoor late-night movie and a pot luck dinner.
More weekend arrivals are expected Friday, with Boy Scout Troop 392 serving breakfast. Radio controlled airplane operators will be providing demonstrations during the day, with another karaoke show after a supper of BBQ brisket and ribs provided by Trestle Board Lodge 534.
A karoaoke show is also scheduled Saturday night and a catfish dinner also provided by the Trestle Board Lodge.
Flights of powered parachutes are set each morning and afternoon, with a bounce house available for children.
