'Get your hippie on!'

ROYSE CITY —  Promoters of the inaugural Woof-Stock in Royse City are inviting residents to “get your hippie on” and come to Royse City High School Saturday for fun, games, pet contests, live music, food vendors, live demonstrations and more.

Activities at the high school are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., but the event will get a running start with the Mutt Strutt 5k run/walk at 8 a.m.

The start and finish will be at City Lake Park. Packet pickup and registration will begin at 6:30 a.m.

The cost is $35 per runner or $50 per couple.

After opening remarks and an official welcome, Tami Hix of Royse City will be the first entertainer on the stage at 9:15 a.m.

Other musical entertainment and their approximate performance times are The Piranhas, 10:15 a.m., Cotton Creek, 11:20; David Vineyard Band, 1 p.m. and Mike Freiley Band, 3:05 p.m.

At 12:15, there will be judging for Best Hippie Dog Costume and Best Doggie Trick Contest. At 2:40 p.m., there will be judging for cutest and ugliest pet and pet/human look-a-like.

Also appearing are Debby Dailey, My Pet’s MVP; Dixie Belle, The Volunteer Dog; and Patriot Paws.

Proceeds will benefit the Royse City Animal Shelter and other animal welfare organizations.
