The area’s next big highway improvement project could go out for bids next month.
But this isn’t just any road. It is the Two-Mile Bridge, the main connector between West Tawakoni in Hunt County and East Tawakoni in Rains County.
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Greenville Area Engineer Tammy Sims said work could begin this fall on expanding the State Highway 276 bridge across Lake Tawakoni from two to four lanes.
“It’s already been let,” Sims said. “It’s been let this month.”
