Forecasters: severe weather a possibility

GREENVILLE — After brief encounters with some wintry precipitation Wednesday, Hunt County and the surrounding area could feel the impact of severe weather while heading to work this morning.

A line of powerful thunderstorms was expected to cross the region from west to east at around 9 a.m. today, according to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service Wednesday evening. There is a slight risk of damaging winds and small hail with the storms today.

There was a 100 percent chance of rain in the forecast for this morning, with a high near 62 expected today. Winds will be out of the east southeast and gusting as high as 25 mph. It should be mostly clear tonight with a low around 34.

There were scattered reports of sleet falling in Hunt County Wednesday morning, although there was no accumulation, as temperatures remained well above freezing during the day.
