Guilty plea in deadly conduct case

GREENVILLE — A Quinlan woman has been placed on probation and fined after pleading guilty in connection with an alleged shooting in Hunt County in May 2012.

Amber Rene Finstad, 26, entered the plea Tuesday during a hearing in the 354th District Court to an indictment with one count of deadly conduct by discharging a firearm.

Under a plea bargain arrangement, Finstad was placed on five years of deferred adjudication probation, with 120 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine.

According to the indictment, Finstad fired “at or in the direction of” a male victim on May 9, 2012. Finstad was arrested the same day by the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office.

Deferred adjudication probation carries no finding of guilt, although those defendants who are found to have violated a deferred probation are subject to being sentenced to the maximum punishment.

Deadly conduct is a third degree felony, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from two to 10 years in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000.
