GREENVILLE —
Trial is scheduled next week for one of two south Hunt County residents indicted in connection with a reported child abuse case from December 2011.
Jury selection had been scheduled this past week in the 196th District Court for Trevor Scott Copeland of Quinlan, but was rescheduled for Monday. Copeland has pleaded not guilty.
The second defendant charged in the case, Erin Elizabeth Saari of West Tawakoni, has also pleaded not guilty, but does not currently have a trial date set in the case. An interim hearing is set for Saari Monday.
Saari, 23, and Copeland, 24, each received one indictment from the Hunt County grand jury for injury to a child by an act.
Saari and Copeland were arrested on Dec. 14, 2011 and remain in custody at the Hunt County Jail. Saari and Copeland were charged in what authorities claimed was an assault on Saari’s 2 year-old daughter.
