Local Boy Scouts collecting food Saturday

GREENVILLE — Local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will be getting another early start Saturday morning, collecting donations during the Scouting for Food program.

Scouting for Food is the largest single-day food collection event in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and one of the largest in the nation.

On one day, approximately 30,000 Scouts go door-to-door collecting non-perishable food items for the less fortunate. The food is then distributed to local food pantries and assistance agencies across Circle Ten Council.

On the morning of Feb. 6, Scouts in uniform, along with their leaders, delivered bags to local residents by hanging them on doors and mailboxes.

The Scouts will return Saturday morning to collect the bags, after first meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday in front of the Super One Foods store in Greenville.

The Circle Ten Council, Tawakoni District covers Rains and Hunt Counties and the Royse City Independent School District.

The Greenville Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops will be collecting for FISH Ministries.

Anyone who does not receive a bag can still participate by dropping off food items at the Super One store during the month of February.
