More family violence assault charges dropped

GREENVILLE — Charges have been dropped against a second local man, who had been indicted in connection with a reported family violence case during the summer.

The Hunt County District Attorney’s Office filed motions with the 354th District Court Tuesday, asking that the indictments for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/family violence filed against William Arther Larson Jr. be dismissed “in the interest of justice.”

Charges have now been dropped against both defendants indicted in connection with the alleged assaults.

Opening arguments and the start of testimony were scheduled Monday in the 354th District Court for Robert Michael Larson, 37, of Greenville on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/family violence.

The Hunt County District Attorney’s Office filed motions with the court Monday, seeking to dismiss the two aggravated assault/family violence indictments filed against Robert Larson, also “in the interest of justice.”

Robert Larson and William Larson Jr., 43, also of Greenville, each received two indictments in September for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/family violence. William Larson was alleged to have threatened Robert Larson, and also a female victim, with a hammer on August 4. Robert Larson was alleged to have used a pistol to threaten William Larson and another female victim on the same date.
