GREENVILLE —
A committee working to establish a new YMCA facility in Greenville is meeting again this week
The YMCA committee is set to convene at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Fletcher Warren Civic Center, 5501 Highway 69 South.
YMCA Executive Director Kelly Gaudreau intends to correlate YMCA programs with building needs and appoint a facilities subcommittee.
The committee will also discuss pledges and commitments made to the effort so far, as well as appoint a subcommittee to coordinate the pledges and commitments.
Two tours of the existing YMCA are being scheduled, at 4 p.m. Dec. 17 and 4 p.m. Jan. 8.
The Greenville YMCA building turned 50 this year.
The fundraising campaign to build a new YMCA in Greenville was formally launched in June 2011.
The new facility is expected to cost about $8 million, with approximately half of the amount already raised or pledged. The committee would be charged with coming up with a projected cost and an income model.
